The Moth ( Moth Control In Mitcham)
• Clothes Moth, Case Bearing Clothes Moth, Brown House Moth and White Shouldered House Moth are the common ones.
• Larvae feed on natural fabrics.
• Adult moths range between 6 to 14mm, depending upon type.
Once inside, moths will settle and lay eggs in dark, undisturbed areas, under furniture, in storage cupboards and are attracted by dirty clothing.
Property entry points:
Through doors or windows at night, attracted by lights.
Adult moths flying or crawling, damage to stored fabrics, damage to carpets especially under furniture, silk like larvae cases, larval caterpillars and discarded silky egg cases and cocoons.
Significance to humans:
• Damage to carpets and fabrics.
• If unchecked can become an established and costly problem.
We use various powerful insecticides and fumigation methods to treat the infected area thoroughly
Guidelines to prevent infestation:
Regular vacuuming, especially in normally undisturbed areas such as under furniture, clean inside cupboards and storage areas, wash clothing before storing and seal in plastic bags to prevent moth access.
Carpet and clothing damage can also be caused by carpet beetle larvae, see ‘Carpet Beetle Control’.
